Chilam Wants to Film for TVB in 2008

Chilam Cheung, Bernice Liu, and Amanda S. attended a Gucci product promotional event. Gucci will be launching a limited collection of digital watches, bicycles, mahjong bag, and leather panda in commemoration of the upcoming Olympic 2008 games in Beijing this summer.

Last year, Chilam focused his career on the mainland market. Since he is feeling restless and afraid that the audiences will forget about him, Chilam decided that he will split his time between filming television series and movies in 2008.

Chilam mentioned that he was especially interested in filming for TVB again. “I desire to speak Cantonese on screen again! I wish to service television audiences!” Will Chilam act on screen with wife, Anita Yuen Wing Yee? “No thanks. If a married couple were to film together, there is usually disagreement in most instances.” (Didn’t Sean Lau Ching Wan and Amy Kwok get along fine while filming together?) “Sean can do it, but I can’t! Perhaps I don’t have confidence in myself!”

Will Chilam, Anita, and their son, Morton, film an ad together? “No, that’s not a good idea!” (Will Chilam and Anita be having another baby soon?) “No, work comes first! Also, I am not a baby-producing machine!”

Earlier, Chilam, Anita, and Morton attended Esther Kwan Wing Hor’s daughter’s birthday celebration. Allegedly, Anita carried Morton around and stole the limelight from Flora Chan Wai San’s daughter. Thus the angry Flora left the party early with her daughter. Chilam explained that all the babies present were adorable. He felt that the tabloids fabricated unnecessary rumors.

Bernice Liu was also present at the Gucci show. She woke up at 5 AM in the morning to film an outdoor scene and did not feel cold by noon time. (Will Bernice be attending the Olympics 2008 games in Beijing?) “TVB intends to send several artists to watch the Olympics and share their experiences afterwards. Hopefully, I can go and enjoy the Latin Dance competition then.”

Bernice’s younger brother is currently teaching at an international school in Beijing. For the Lunar New Year, he will be going to Hong Kong to visit Bernice and their parents. Thus Bernice is especially happy about the upcoming New Year and will cherish the time together with her family.

TVB Confirmed Series: 盛世人杰

Series: 盛世人杰 (Sorry, I do not know the literary-translated English title for this series)
Genre: Ancient
Starring: Sunny Chan, Sonija Kwok, Bernice Liu, Leila Tong, Claire Yiu, Tracy Ip, Lee Heung Kam
Comments. Another TVB confirmed series. Finally TVB has more ancient series because I’m tired of their tedious modern productions. Even though their ancient series are no longer high quality (most of the time), I still like watching them more than their modern serials. Anyway, Sunny looks very cute in the photo. Leila, like always looks extra sweet and I think she looks very cool in that outfit. However, the two TVB beauties, Bernice and Sonija looks horrible in their exaggerated hair styles. I do not like the large ring in Bernice’s hairstyle. In addition, the bundle of curls in Sonija’s bangs makes her look very old and not attractive at all. As for the costumes, I guess they are okay. I like Bernice’s attire in the last photo. Although I don’t have any idea of their characters as of now, I hope the series will not be comedy, or at least not completely comedy. It is off topic, but I’d rather see Thirteen Protectors, or previously known as Thirteen Treasures. Nevertheless, as of now, I hear nothing that TVB plans on filming the series. I really am excited to see Ron and Shirley play a couple after they did not end up together in The Brink of Law. Shirley looks beautiful in ancient costumes. When I saw the last photo of Bernice in the costume, she reminded of the Sales Presentation clip I saw of Thirteen Protectors.

The Synopsis

It demonstrates the philosophy of the way,
It shows the path to wisdom and harmony,
A master is here to teach the essence of Tai Chi!

Orphaned as a child, Mo Ma (Vincent Zhou Wen Zhuo) grew up in the country and started learning Tai Chi from his mentor at a very young age. The devastating experience of being abandoned by his mother has left him twisted and full of hatred. To help remove the anger and hatred in Ma’s heart, his mentor finally sacrifices his own life.
To express gratitude to his mentor, and to accomplish the will of his father, Ma seeks to pursue the highest level of Tai Chi. He challenges Tuen Hiu Sing (Raymond Lam Fung), the leader of the top-ranked Chong Lung Sect, to a contest, but is defeated in the end. To beat Sing has then become his only goal. For a girl named Yin Chi Kwai (Myolie Wu Hang Yee) and the ambitious martial arts master Lui Yau Ngo (Kwok Jing Hung), Ma and Sing get into fights again and again. As Ma is on the road to his dream, the gap between him and his soul-mate Song Ching (Melissa Ng Mei Heng) is growing wider and wider.

Comments. For some reason, despite the talented stars in this series, I’m not so interested in terms of plot wise. Tai Chi is not very interesting to me and according to the plot, I think it’s mediore. But because the series contains so many of my favorite stars, I will definitely try it. I am excited about the love entanglements more than anything else.

The Seventh Day

English Title: The Seventh Day
Chinese Title: 最美麗的第七天
Cantonese Title: Jui Mei Lai Dik Dai Chat Tin
Cast: Kevin Cheng, Niki Chow, Bosco Wong, Natalie Tong, etc.
Length: 20 episodes (Cantonese) // 15 tapes (Vietnamese)
Release Date: February 2008 (Canto) // April 2008 (Viet)
Genre: Modern Drama/Romance/Tragedy

The Synopsis

Unforgettable encounter
Two people with the same birthday
Finding a true heart as the greatest love of all

Yau Chi Wing (Kevin Cheng Ka Wing) and Hui Wai Yan (Bosco Wong Chung Chak) were both born on the seventh day of August, but one takes relationships seriously while the other is very money-minded and sees love as a tool to get higher up the social ladder.

The tale begins on the seventh of August, when Wing and Yan first encounter their own dream girl on the island. Wing works as a lifeguard on the outlying island. He gets to know pet shop assistant Ling Ka Yan (Niki Chow Lai Kei) by chance and is soon mesmerized by her endearing personality. Yan works at a coffee shop and meets a romance comic artist called Wong Chi Kwan (Natalie Tong Sze Wing). Being misled into believing that the girl is from a rich family, Yan decides to chase her. He would never have thought that someone as calculating as himself would end up falling into a love trap.

Comments. I am so glad that after warhousing this series for almost two years, TVB is finally deciding to air it as numerous fans are anticipating it. Personally, I believe Kevin and Niki overall make a pretty good couple despite their age gap; perhaps, among all the couples that TVB have paired up (with age gaps, that is), they make the best couple. Lately, TVB has been pairing up actors of the 90’s with actresses in the 00’s even though they do not match at all. Unlike fans who loved Under the Canopy of Love, I didn’t enjoy the series as much due to the romance which was too fantasy-like for me. The tragedy here seems more interesting and of course, sad. In a way, I feel that it is more realistic that UTCOL.
